Youngsville, NC
NC Safety & Emissions Inspection
Franklin County requires both a safety and an emissions inspection every year before you can renew your tag. We are a licensed station, the fee is set by the state, and we will not invent a repair to pass you.
You might need this if
- Your registration renewal notice arrived from the NCDMV
- Your tag expires within the next 90 days
- You just moved to North Carolina and need your first inspection
- Your check engine light is on and you are worried about emissions
How we do it
-
Bring the car, we do the rest
No appointment needed before 11am on weekdays or on Saturday morning. Bring your registration card if you have it handy.
-
Safety and emissions, together
Brakes, lights, steering, tires, wipers, horn and mirrors, plus the OBD emissions scan. It takes about thirty minutes.
-
If something fails, you hear it straight
We show you what failed and what it costs to fix. You are free to take the car anywhere for that repair - the state gives you 60 days and a free re-inspection here either way.
NC Safety & Emissions Inspection: what people ask
Will a check engine light fail my inspection?
Yes. An illuminated check engine light is an automatic emissions failure in North Carolina. Bring it in and we will read the code for free, so at least you know what you are dealing with before you decide anything.
Do I need an inspection if my car is brand new?
Vehicles less than three model years old with under 70,000 miles are exempt from the emissions portion, but still need the safety inspection. We will tell you which applies to yours.
While you are here
The rest of what we do
- Brakes Pads, rotors, calipers and lines. Measured and photographed, not guessed.
- Check Engine Light & Diagnostics A real diagnosis with the reasoning shown, not a parts-swapping guess.
- Air Conditioning & Heat Leak found and fixed, not just topped up so it dies again in August.
- Oil & Scheduled Maintenance The right oil, the real interval, and an inspection that catches the next thing.
- Tires & Alignment Mounting, balancing, rotation and four-wheel alignment on a laser rack.
- Batteries, Starting & Charging Tested under load, replaced same day, and we will check why it died.
